The Provident Bank Foundation Funds HABcore Expansion

FullSizeRender (4)Red Bank, N.J. – (May 15, 2017) – The Provident Bank Foundation has awarded a $7,500 grant to HABcore, Inc. to help fund supportive services for its Independent Living Program Expansion. HABcore, Inc. is a nonprofit organization in Red Bank, New Jersey that provides permanent housing and supportive services to homeless veterans, families and individuals with special needs in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

“We are grateful to The Provident Bank Foundation for choosing to support HABcore this year. We have been seeking community partners to fund our innovative program and The Provident Bank Foundation, with such a strong presence here in Monmouth and Ocean counties, is the perfect partner,” said Steve Heisman, Executive Director of HABcore, Inc.

The funding supports HABcore, Inc.’s expansion that will provide 96 new people, including 28 families with 43 children, with a safe, stable home in 2017 in various communities in Monmouth and Ocean counties. While the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds most of the rental subsidies for this program, it is expected that agencies find additional sources of funding to support the vital case management services, as HUD has cut service funding.

“HABcore was selected to receive one of our Major Grants because of the amazing work they are doing to improve the quality of life of individuals in Monmouth County,” said Jane Kurek, Executive Director, The Provident Bank Foundation. “They identified an immediate need in the area and immediately began to address it. Their primary goal to promote self-sufficiency is exactly in line with the Foundation’s, and we look forward to seeing the results of the expansion.”

Heisman adds, “While we have resources to secure the apartments, there is no funding available for the case management program, despite these services being crucial to keeping the homeless and disabled stably housed. The Provident Bank Foundation has stepped up admirably to help us fill that gap.”
