FAQs

WHAT SERVICES DOES HABCORE PROVIDE?

HABcore provides permanent housing through two different housing programs.  We are not an emergency shelter. Click here to read more about our housing options.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR HOUSING?

You may apply on our website by filling out our questionnaire. This information will be placed on our waiting list. If you have further questions, please contact our main office at (732) 544-1975.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO GET HOUSING?

We are never able to determine an exact date as to when housing will become available. Since we provide permanent housing, generally, our residents tend to stay in our program, creating a longer wait for new clients. Once housing becomes available, you will be contacted to meet for a face-to-face interview with HABcore staff.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR PROGRAM?

Boarding home - You must be a single adult over the age of 18. We are unable to accept children and/or pets. Each resident is required to pay rent every month, which is based off of your income and fair market rates. Rent includes room/board, 3 meals per day (breakfast/lunch/dinner), utilities, access to laundry facility and 24-hour staff on site. We do not provide nursing care, as each resident must be able to manage their own activities of daily living and medication.

Apartment Program - This program is designed to house families and individuals. The major requirements include that the head of household must meet HUD's definition of chronically homeless; this definition includes the presence of a long-term disabling condition (homelessness verification and disability documentation from a licensed physician required). The household is also required by pay rent each month, which is generally 30% of the total household income.

WHERE ARE YOUR FACILITIES/APARTMENTS LOCATED?

We have two boarding homes located in Red Bank and Asbury Park. The Independence Pathways Program offers apartments in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
